Product photos that make better AI videos

When an AI-generated product video goes wrong, the failure usually traces back to the same place: the photos. Not their resolution — their coverage. Generation models are excellent at rendering what they've seen and confident liars about what they haven't.

More angles beat more megapixels

One glamour shot tells a model what your product looks like from exactly one direction. The moment a scene needs any other view — in a hand, on a face, from the side — the model fills the gap by inventing, and invented product details are how you get a video where the logo drifts or a strap appears that doesn't exist.

A useful photo set covers:

  • Front, back, side. The boring catalogue angles earn their keep.
  • In use. Worn, held, mounted — whatever "in use" means for your product. A model seeding a "wearing it" scene from a photo of someone actually wearing it stays honest; seeding it from a flat product shot forces a guess.
  • Every state. If it lights up, photograph it lit and unlit. If it folds, open and closed. A state the model never saw is a state it will improvise.

Shoot the states you want the video to show

The biggest gap we see: a product whose whole selling point is a transformation — a light that turns on, a device that changes something — photographed only in its "off" state. The video then has to invent the payoff moment, and invented payoffs look fake because they are.

If the "after" matters, photograph the after.

Real context helps more than white backgrounds

White-background shots are fine for catalogues, but a couple of photos in real rooms with real light give a video generator crucial cues about scale and material. A product that's only ever seen floating in white space tends to come out subtly wrong-sized when placed in a scene.

Filenames and order don't matter — coverage does

At least with OnlyPost, you don't need to name or arrange anything: drop every photo you have into the product and the pipeline reviews all of them and picks the right seed for each scene. Ten covering photos beat three perfect ones, every time.

The short version: photograph your product like you're describing it to someone who will draw it from memory. Because that's precisely what happens next.

Put it to work

OnlyPost turns a product and a proven reference into a finished organic-style video — researched, generated, edited and checked.
